Overview:

In this lab, we'll begin by learning what podcasts are and what distinguishes them from other forms of audio/video. Second, we'll create our own brief podcasts ourselves!

Objectives:

1. To learn what podcasts are and how they work, including working knowledge of key terminology.
2. To know where one might look to find podcast to listen/watch.
3. To create one's own podcast using free applications.

General Overview

Let's begin by watching this brief introduction to Podcasting. In this video, you'll learn about the key features of podcasts, some strategies for determining whether web content is available as a podcast, and get an idea of the steps required to create your own podcast.

Creating Podcasts

MyPodCast.com

MyPodCast offers a free podcast with unlimited storage, unlimited bandwidth and free templates for your podcast.

1. Create a PodCast.
   1. Create an account.
   2. Choose a name for your PodCast.
2. Download MyPodcast Recorder.
3. Create Audio with Recorder. Save and Publish. Will appear on MyPodCast blog.
4. Can listen and download.
5. Right click and Copy Link Location and link it to your blog.

Your Performance Tasks:

Craft your own audio file (Newscast) that reports on the following key aspects of the Case Study:

• Facts of the case
• What were the results?
• Answer these questions in a monologue - "To what extent should teachers be technologically literate?" And what are the consequences for not achieving a certain level of technological literacy? And how does technological literacy relate to technology integration?
